Judge, Jury, and Executioner

“Judge, Jury, and Executioner” explores an individual’s internal conflict of growing up in an environment where judgment and criticism were constant, creating a worldview rooted in quick assumptions about others. This individual doesn’t want to be judgemental in that way and is making active efforts to undo this conditioning. The image of a hand striking down a broken gavel made of many different kinds of people symbolizes the weight of inherited judgment. In contrast, the gavel’s fracture represents the individual’s desire to break free from this pattern. The piece captures both the guilt of snap judgments and the determination to change, acknowledging the struggle to let go of learned biases and embrace a more compassionate perspective.
