"Stagnant" explores the inherited fear of change and the comfort of remaining in familiar, yet limiting, environments. This piece is inspired by an individual who has a family that is often very fearful of change, and how they want to try to break this cycle as they are aware of how it limits them. This piece shows a woman, taking the place of a caterpillar, about to be consumed by a group of hungry birds. This symbolizes the loss of experiences that come with resisting change. In contrast, the background is filled with free butterflies, representing the opportunities for growth and freedom that are missed when fear of change holds one back.
